Some People Never Get Appreciation, It's Part of Life!

This morning I was thinking, how wonderful it must be to be a famous person that's admired, appreciated, and respected. Julie Andrews comes to mind because I've been watching some of her interviews on various talk shows throughout her career on my favorite channel "You Tube." Dame Julie Andrews is my all time favorite performer. This woman has it all, beauty, an ebullient personality, charisma, elegance, an extraordinary talent for acting, dancing, singing, and writing.....she's adored all over the world. Despite all her successes she comes across so down to earth, kind, and grounded. Just the other day students at an Alabama school received a personally written letter from legendary Julie Andrews encouraging them to go on with the production of "Mary Poppins" despite the death of their director Mr Fine who passed away from Covid. The students were discouraged and sad to go on with the show but somehow one of the parents was able to contact Julie Andrews who in turn sent a letter to the students. This is what it said:

A little bird told me that you have been working on a special benefit production of Mary Poppins. Great!   I'm sending you warmest wishes for success! Do it in honor of Mr. Fine. He must have been a really nice guy.

The iconic Julie Andrews! She's my inspiration!

How amazing it is to be someone as awesome and incredible as Julie Andrews. She's a superstar! But in a world of 7 1/2 billion humans, not everyone gets to lead a magnificent life. There are those that are living from paycheck to paycheck, perhaps even homeless, there are those that work so hard each and everyday but yet get not an ounce of recognition from their bosses or peers. Yes, we're told in society not to complain or have self pity but sometimes it does hurt to get unnoticed. In my case, I'm getting tiered of being a doormat. I haven't owned a car in 20 years but my friend talked me into getting a used car and guess who drives the car all the time? You guessed it, he does, and I'm the one making most of the car payments and taking the city bus to work and back. At work, two of the other supervisors make more money than I do but guess who goes the extra work without any recognition? It's me of course. What hurts the most is I'm the only one who mops the floor in the office and yesterday the store director criticized me personally for the floor being dirty and to clean it up immediately.  I only supervise once a week, why weren't the other supervisors mopping the floor?

My mother has Alzherimer's and these last few years I always went out of my way to ease the responsibilities of some of her caregivers, but do you think my brother whose in charge of my mother's care ever noticed? No, instead he complains that I'm a nuisance and the only reason I'm even allowed to visit my mother now at the condo is because she is after all my mother but the caregivers get all the affection and warmth from my brother while I'm once again the doormat.

Do you ever feel like you've been put on this earth to just be a servant to others? There's nothing wrong with helping others and going the extra yard to try to help make the world a better place, but after awhile it does hurt to always be the forgotten one, who seems so insignificant and useless while other people get appreciation, attention, admiration, love, and praises. What do you think?

Moments of "Never Getting Appreciation" certainly do hurt at times!

Starbucks & Debbie

This afternoon I stopped into a Starbucks and asked for a sample of the new "Blond Roast." I was expecting just a tiny cup sample but instead the barista poured me a generous cup of the "Blond Roast"  and recommended trying it with a few drops of vanilla syrup which I did. What a beautiful moment it was to enter Starbucks wanting to try the new "Blond Roast" and given a generous sample with kindness and warmth by Debbie the barista. STARBUCKS and its customers are very fortunate to have such a shining star employee as Debbie who brightened my day by greeting me with a big smile and friendly "May I help you?" When I asked for a sample she rewarded me with something I just wasn't expecting.  How nice it is to know that every now and then someone can make all the difference in just a few moments. This was the case with the amazing STARBUCKS barista Debbie who deserves high praises for being so awesome. Thank You Starbucks and Thank You D...

The Cows

After attending a lovely morning Christmas service I decided to take a bicycle ride through the countryside. I was on my own and had nobody to spend Christmas with so I just kept paddling on the trail and enjoying the scenery and smell of the fragrant pine trees.  When  I stumbled across cows in the distance I was ecstatic because I love cows, so I turned my bike around and meandered to the pubic road that led to the farm. When I saw two cows in the meadow my face lighted up with joy. The cows saw me and ran to the fence to greet me. For several minutes they just stood there next to me and made me feel so loved and appreciated. I no longer felt alone on Christmas Day. In moments when we feel so alone how assuring it is to know that there are some living creatures to cheer us up. Those two sweet cows I spent time with on a warm Christmas afternoon were beautiful CHRISTMAS moments. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL LIVING CREATURES!

The Penny

Holding down three jobs and always multi-tasking it felt so good to sit down for a few moments in the backyard the other day. I dreamed of easier times when life was more "carefree." Suddenly I noticed a penny on the ground. It hadn't been there before and my inner voice told me to pick it up. I did and was mesmerized with the year engraved on the penny. That year I was blessed with the best carefree summer of my life and the memories flooded my mind of that sweet summer long ago. That penny gave me hope that my guardian angels knew my pain and distraught and assured me that "moments" of happy times will come again someday. "The penny" was my sign of hope that someday there will be carefree moments again. Believe in those little signs that come into your moments of everyday life.
